In Unit 5, we introduce your child to the term “freedom of expression”, how do you express responsibly, kindly, and with dignity. What does the Quran say about critical thinking and freedom of thought? Shouldn’t you think first before expressing yourself? We’ll also identify ways in which people express themselves from clothing to music to arts and religious beliefs and why it is vital that we help to protect all forms of diverse expressions.

A Message Of Unity
Story Time: Mixed, A Colorful Story
In Unit 5’s Story Time, we share another one of our favorites - Mixed: A Colorful Story. Your child will listen to the story and have some time to reflect on the lessons of the book, thinking about unity, the power of difference, and most important, how powerful it is when we accept these differences. Story Time is followed by some thought provoking questions for you to ask your child to help them process the lessons they just learned.
Freedom of Self-Expression
Family Activity: Dance Party
Another fun Family Activity is to get your child (and you!) up and moving. In each lesson, whenever it is Music Time, we encourage everyone to get up and dance. You’ll have the chance to use the instrument your child made that’s included in our Welcome Package and provide your child with an outlet to help them develop the confidence they need to fully express themselves.
