Unit 4

In Unit 4, we discuss what it means to be a Muslim starting with the translation of the word “muslim”. We’ll talk about the characters and values Muslims should cultivate, including honesty, anti-bullying, anti-racism, and cherishing humanity’s diversity. As this curriculum is rooted in human rights, we emphasize the justice themed verses of the Quran to lay the foundation of what it means to be a Muslim.

Unit 4 is now available to purchase on our Teachable website.

Characteristics of a Muslim

Poetry: What Makes A Muslim

Music and poetry is spread out across the curriculum to help your child learn about different forms of emotive expression. This poem, written by one of the authors of the Inclusive Islam Curriculum, gives new meaning to the word Muslim to help your child see the beauty that language can create and what we all can do to be good Muslims.

Staying Humble

Discussion Questions

Critical thinking is at the heart of the Inclusive Islam Curriculum and we want to help strengthen your child’s critical thinking muscles. As important as critical thinking is, emotional intelligence is equally important. Our lessons on humility and the dangers of putting one of God’s creations above the rest will have your child deep in reflection of how to walk in this world in their own strength while simultaneously recognizing the strength of others.
